COACHING PHILOSOPHY:

To provide each individual athlete with quality coaching within a team atmosphere; to never forget that the sport should be fun and challenging; to make sure that the life lessons of hard work, respect, and striving for excellence are never compromised; to continually stay up to date on coaching methodologies.

As the Recruiting Coordinator for Silver State, to provide competitive opportunities for every athlete and let them know that academics, character, and self motivation matter to recruiting coaches.

Job duties ranged from stats, video analysis, opponent scouting and recruiting.

PLAYING EXPERIENCE:

The Ohio State University - Men's Tennis

Professional Bundesliga team tennis in Germany, satellite tournaments, qualifiers and ITF tournaments throughout Europe

Coach Jim Saari's Top Accomplishments

  • Since becoming Recruiting Coordinator for the Capital City VBC in 2006, every senior player who sought a college volleyball scholarship has received one
  • Assistant coach for 16 years at the NCAA Division I level at Ohio State University (men's and women's team), University of Utah, University of Nevada, and the University of South Florida.
  • Assistant coach, 10 conference winning teams (4 Big Ten Championships, 5 Sun Belt Conference Championships, and one Conference USA Championship).
  • Assistant coach of 1984 Ohio State women's team that finished ranked 6th in the nation after making the NCAA Elite Eight National Championship.
  • Coached 2 NCAA All- Americans (Karen Alsbrooks, Mary Ormsby), one Olympian (Ormsby- Team Canada), and 27 all college all conference players.
  • Coached in two NCAA Final Fours as an Assistant Coach with the Ohio State men's volleyball team (two 3rd place national finishes).
